(information about Heidelberg and Lexington churches are included)
Some early parishioner names are listed in the article).

Lexington

St. Joseph Church

  • The original church was founded by about 60 Polish families living in the area in 1902 and was located at 21324 Steeple View Lane.
  • Many of the Poles came from St. Scholastica Church in Heidelberg, which was originally a German and Czech church – the Poles wanted their own church.
  • The church was active until 2008 and in 2011, the building was moved to the Pioneer Power show grounds, six miles away (east of Le Sueur) and has been preserved. In its current location, it is now known as the Lexington Church.
  • The parish was consolidated with St. Wenceslaus Parish in New Prague (originally built as a Czech church). Records for St. Joseph Church are now kept by St. Wenceslaus Church.
