Holy Cross Catholic Church (founded in 1886)

Holy Cross is part of a multi-campus parish that today includes St Hedwig’s, St Clement’s, and St Anthony of Padua. Holy Cross was considered the Mother Church of all Polish Catholic Churches in Minneapolis. The current church was dedicated in 1928.

The current church building was established in 1919 and two major renovations were done in 1989 and 2018. See Holy Cross Church above as St. Hedwig is now part of the multi-campus parish.

St. Philip’s was formed from Holy Cross “for the people of the Polish race living in North and South Minneapolis.” The parish was merged with Church of the Ascension in 2011.

Sacred Heart Church Records from 1914-1965 have been microfilmed at the Immigration Research Center at the University of Minnesota.

This church had a massive fire on April 19, 2021- total loss, uncertain if it will be replaced.
