St. John Vianney Church (established 1955)

  • The original Catholic church in Fairmont was St. Paul’s Church, founded in 1882 – History of St. Paul Church
  • Located where the present Martin County Library stands
  • Construction of a new church began in 1902 at East Blue Earth Avenue and Elm Street
  • The church closed in September of 1955 when construction of St. John Vianney was completed

It appears that many people who have had funeral services at St. Vianney are
buried in the Holy Family Cemetery in East Chain (see above). Some are buried
in Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont (see below).
